Where to stay in Belgrade

Pick the area first, then the hotel. The city is compact, but every part has its own rhythm, and that shapes your trip more than the room does.

Which area suits you

Short and honest, from people who live here.

  • Stari Grad

    Lively

    First visit, short stay

Knez Mihailova, Kalemegdan and Republic Square are all on foot. The busiest and priciest part of town, and the easiest.

  • Dorćol

    Some noise

    Cafés, bars, longer stays

Old streets running down to the Danube, with the best coffee and cocktail bars in the city. Lots of apartments, few big hotels.

  • Vračar

    Quiet

    Quiet nights, couples, families

Leafy residential streets around the Church of Saint Sava. Twenty minutes on foot to the centre, and you sleep well.

  • Savamala & Waterfront

    Some noise

    River views, nightlife

The new riverside promenade and the city’s top luxury hotel, next to the older Savamala clubs. Uphill walk to the old town.

  • New Belgrade

    Quiet

Business trips, concerts at the Arena

Wide boulevards, big business hotels and easy parking. Ten minutes by taxi to the old town, and close to the airport road.

  • Zemun

    Quiet

    Slow pace, river restaurants

A small town of its own on the Danube, with fish restaurants on the quay. Charming, but plan on taxis for the centre.

Concierge

Good to know

The small things nobody mentions until you arrive.

Registration
Your hotel or host registers you with the police on arrival; all you need is your passport. Staying with friends? You have to register yourself within 24 hours.
City tax
Charged per night and usually already in the room rate. With apartments, ask before you book.
When to book
For New Year, Beer Fest in August and big concerts at the Arena, book a month ahead. The rest of the year a few days is enough.
Apartments
Dorćol and Vračar have the best apartments. Check for a lift; many older buildings do not have one.

Rather have someone sort it all out?

Our team picks and books a place that fits your budget and plans. For the ride in from the airport we use Socrat Road Star.
